“Radiation Safety for the Dental Professional”
This course will be a review of radiation exposure and safety guidelines for dental radiographers. Advantages and disadvantages of different imaging techniques will be discussed, with emphasis placed on ways to maximize diagnostic benefit while minimizing radiation risk.
This course fulfills the continuing education requirement on radiation safety set forth by the PA Department of Environmental Protection/Bureau of Radiation Protection. This update is required every four years for everyone who takes x-rays in a dental office.
“Local Anesthesia Review and Updates” - What You Need to Know
This course will provide a review and updates of all aspects of oro-facial anesthetic pain management, including, but not limited to, techniques, anesthetics, and complications.
This course fulfills the local anesthesia continuing education requirement for PA license renewal.
Julie Cleary, RDH, MS Ed
Julie Cleary, RDH, MS Ed, has taught dental radiology at Luzerne County Community College for 39 years. She has received advanced continuing education in radiology from the University of Kentucky and the University of North Carolina.
Valerie McCreary, RDH, MS
Valerie McCreary, RDH, MS, has been a clinical instructor at Luzerne County Community College for 31 years. She attended the first “Train-the-Trainer” program for local anesthesia at the University of Pennsylvania, and she was responsible for implementing local anesthesia courses for dental hygienists in the Luzerne County area.
